Garter Snakes are the most common variety of snake in North America. They are small, but they can grow to 4 feet. Garter Snakes are carnivorous, and they eat just about any animal that they can catch.

When they are small they feed on insects and earthworms. As they grow larger they eat amphibians such as frogs, as well as small rodents. They are not poisonous, and they are generally not aggressive, but they will bite if they feel threatened.
